New Moon:
The New Moon cannot be seen from Earth, as she rests between the earth and the sun. This phase suggests new beginnings, as we are yet to see what is to come and are within an energy of anticipation. This is the moon phase where intention setting, ritual, getting clear on your goals, your wants and desires, are best made. As the energy builds towards the next full moon you’re building, riding that energy, to align with the growing and fulfilment of your desires & goals.
Waxing Crescent:
The ‘waxing’ here suggests that the moon is growing, the light of the moon is getting larger as this phase transitions closer to the ‘full moon.’ Therefore, this moon energy is great for revisiting intentions that are set on the New Moon and assessing how you may approach these goals in a step-by-step, more practical and active approach.
First Quarter:
With exactly half of the moon illuminated and half shadowed, this phase suggests decision making. You may find yourself within a crossroads, do you give up or do you continue forward. This is a perfect time for evaluation, for moving forward with larger plans, taking small risks and implementing changes.
Waxing Gibbous moon phase:
‘Gibbous’ here signifies that more than half of the moon is illuminated. This is a period best for refinement. Not only with your intentions, but with any areas, tasks, workings that you feel could be improved.
Full Moon moon phases:
Now fully illuminated by the sun, the Full Moon signifies release and sealing of intention. A perfect time for ritual, releasing your intentions to the divine powers of the universe. Releasing energies, performing meditation and accepting that what will be now, will be.
Waning Gibbous:
The ‘Waning’ refers to the decreasing of the Moon’s illumination, and ‘Gibbous’ means more than half of Moon is now illuminated. This moon phase signifies gratitude. As we are transitioning into the phase of the lunar cycle that is symbolic of release, as the moons illumination now “decreases” as the moon moves further away from the sun. The Waning Gibbous is a time to be grateful for what is present and what will be. Giving thanks to the lunar energies for all you have and all that is.
Third Quarter moon phase:
We now see the opposite to the first quarter moon, as the light on the moon is appearing to be shrinking, leaving half of the moon illuminated. This cycle embraces forgiveness. Allowing you to free yourself from bonds that no longer serve your goals, your future, your happiness. Forgive yourself, forgive others and allow this energy to be cast away.
Waning Crescent:
With the moons illumination shrinking further, with less than half of the moon now illuminated. This cycle welcomes surrender. Releasing control, ego, doubt, hope, and allowing whatever needs to manifest in your life to come about. You may also like to focus on other areas of your life, what can be released? Thoughts, emotions, beliefs? This is a powerful time to surrender what no longer serves you positive purpose.
